Tan Sri Md Nor Yusof Kembali Ke Pejabat Yang Lebih Besar Di MAS

Umpama sirih pulang ke gagang, Tan Sri Md Nor Yusof kembali ke Malaysia Airlines System Bhd (MAS) sebagai Pengerusi, berkuatkuasa 1 Ogos 2011. Sebelum ini beliau pernah menjadi Pengarah Urusan di syarikat penerbangan utama negara itu.

Seperkara yang menarik mengenai Md Nor, beliau pernah memimpin sebuah bank yang kecil iaitu Bank of Commerce. Kemudian Bank of Commerce yang ketika hanya mempunyai kurang dari 10 cawangan seluruh negara, telah mengambilalih United Asian Bank lalu diserap dibawah Bank of Commerce.

Hari ini, setelah Bank of Commerce melalui penggabungan dengan Bank Bumiputera dan membentuk jenama perbankan Bumiputera Commerce Bank, bank tersebut dikenali sebagai CIMB Bank dengan melibatkan sekali penggabungan dengan Southern Bank Berhad.

Pada masa yang sama, selain bakal memegang jawatan Pengerusi MAS pada Ogos nanti, beliau adalah Pengerusi CIMB Group.
KUALA LUMPUR: MALAYSIAN AIRLINE SYSTEM BHD [] has appointed its former managing director Tan Sri Md Nor Md Yusof as its chairman with effect from August 1, 2011.

In a filing Friday, July 29, MAS said Md Nor was appointed as director of Khazanah Nasional Bhd on April 1, ''and currently serves as the chairman of its executive committee.

'He also sits on the Boards of several companies and institutions including Malaysian Agrifood Corporation Bhd, Pelaburan Hartanah Bhd and is also a Trustee of Yayasan Khazanah,' it said.

Md Nor was appointed to the board of CIMB Group Holdings Bhd as director in June 2006 and assumed the post of chairman on July 31, 2006. He is also chairman of CIMB Group Sdn. Bhd.

Md Nor spent 18 years of his working career with the CIMB Group, and more notably as president and chief executive officer of Bank of Commerce (M) Berhad (now known as CIMB Bank).

He completed his term as executive chairman of the Securities Commission on March 31, 2006.

Prior to that appointment, he was the MAS managing director after serving a period as advisor to theMinistry of Finance. [investor.com]
